Renowned for his sculptural shapes and clean lines, Polish designer Krystof Strozyna presented his Autumn / Winter 2013 collection featuring elegant pencil skirts with exposed zips and timeless cocktail dresses with asymmetric sleeves during London Fashion Week. With his attention to detail, Strozyna emphasises dazzling prints and silver elements. In essence, the collection pays tribute to minimalism, simple and subtle cuts as well as to the precision in shaping a feminine silhouette. The main colours of the collection are centred around an autumnal palette: shades of grey, bottle green, burgundy and black accompanied by contrasting white.

We caught up with Krystof to chat about the inspiration behind his collection’s dimmed colour palette, the Polish DNA in fashion and his secret plans for next season.

What was the inspiration behind the dark colour palette for your latest collection?
It’s the sea – it’s depths, dark greens, deep blues, colours of water.

How did you come up with the theme for Autumn / Winter 2013?
I spent my youngest years by the seaside. The sea is very mystical; I knew it was the right time to use this theme.

What is your approach to the design process and fashion?
I think that design and fashion should bring joy, it’s all about that.

You were announced by the Polish media the ambassador of Polish fashion in London. How would you define the Polish DNA in your designs?
It’s in the details, very subtle.

How can the relatively young Polish fashion industry stand out in the global market?
I believe in it! I’m proud of it, though it’s at the begining. Polish designers can make their way by believing in their mind and being constantly inspired by their culture.

Any exciting plans for the future?
Oh yes, I’m working on a very exciting project, but I can’t reveal any details.

Last, but not least, what is your favorite pizza topping?
I rarely eat this, but when I eat it at a good company the topping doesn’t really matter.
