Tell me a little bit about yourself, Liz. What is your background?
Well, I studied fashion illustration at he University of The Arts London, so I have always had a real love of drawing the human form. I’ve been working as a freelance illustrator for years now and I also manage an art gallery, so it is a world I’m very much absorbed in!
Could you describe your style please?
My style comes from using the contrast of stark black lines against subtle detailing and bold colour. I’d say my imagery is fun, yet edgy and injects a sense of youth and pop culture.
What is your inspiration?
Hmmm, I mean each job can be very different so that really varies each time, but I would say I get inspired by the music I’m listening to as I work.
Are there other illustrators that you look up to?
Definitely! I love the work of illustrators like Stephane Manel, Stina Persson,Sophie Toulouse, Patrick Morgan and Julie Verhoeven but also newer illustrators such as Rosie Beard and Hannah Horn are fantastic and a constant inspiration.
What makes you happy?
Well, drawing definitely – that’s always a fun thing to do and enables me to experiment and be creative. I’m also in a band called Ligers, which is a real passion of mine! I love making and playing music…
What do you hope to achieve in future?
I guess to constantly be in a position where I can earn my living from being creative! I worked in recruitment once and I refuse to go back to an office job again…
