The latest collection by Anne Gorke, ‘Nightingales’, was presented for the first time at the Mercedes-Benz tent as part of Berlin Fashion Week.
Gorke’s eco-focused collection is free from toxic chemicals, is fair trade and 100 percent made in Germany to ensure it is created under fair conditions and meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
Born in Weimar, where Bauhaus was founded, Gorke shows a strong allegiance to the Bauhaus aesthetic with her sleek architectural silhouettes and simple colour scheme of black, beige, grey and navy. Using a combination of stiff and flowing fabrics to create her signature mix of tailored lines and femininity, Gorke uses Dr. Martens, school girl socks and sculptural hairstyles to complete the aesthetic on the catwalk. The principle of ‘form follows function’ is very apparent in Gorke’s uncomplicated wearable designs, which she says were inspired in part by the early ’90s American serial drama ‘Twin Peaks’.
