Martine Jarlgaard does not waste time. After graduating from The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen, the designer was hired to be in charge of the Vivienne Westwood Red Label. Following that, the designer then worked at All Saints in London, headed up Diesel’s female apparel in Italy, and then finally returned to London to launch her exclusive namesake label. Influenced by her Scandinavian heritage, the designer epitomises sculptural minimalism, sharp lines and timelessness with an edge. The pieces are crafted in London and, whenever possible, labelled with the Italian fabric source mill in which it came from. The aim of this is to create an honest luxury product that is transparent to the loyal customer. Jarlgaard’s latest collection, inspired by making the familiar look fresh through using a variety of contrasting materials, was featured in the British Fashion Council’s Designer Showroom in Somerset House during London Fashion Week.
