Veronique Branquinho’s Spring / Summer 2016 collection was a clear nod to femininity, womanpower and craftsmanship. The models all wore sheer organza covering their eyes and pleated organza dresses in signature brand colours of neutral tones, adding further romanticism. This was contrasted by hand-knit crochets with long fringes added to white and black blouses and dresses, in red and white. The collection then swayed into a more bohemian folk style – robe style sleeves swung with heavily adorned floral dresses, the models creatures of the forest: an ode to a secret garden with apples being placed on the seats before the show. Tassle jewellery further emphasised this bohemian folk feel, giving a historical and traditional reference exploring Victorian-esque, ruffled tulle blouses, and creating a modern interpretation of these ideas.
