Menswear designer Ivan Mandzukic of Ivanman presents his collection for Autumn / Winter 2016 at Berlin Fashion Week.

Ivan has developed a taste for colour only over the last few seasons. His first collections were dark, black and grey. Now, orange is his new black.

Ivanman delivers another solid menswear collection for next winter. Daring colour combos, manly silhouettes and enough (military) detail to keep his clothes interesting.

Having grown up in Serbia during the war, the designer reflects whether that is where the recurring military influence comes from; it might be a way to process what he had experienced during that time. ‘But I don’t suffer from it!’, he finds important to stress.

You need to have some kind of balls to wear an orange outdoor jacket – especially in times when the actual colour of choice in fashion is black. I ask him whether he thinks guys become more daring when it comes to what they’re putting on their backs. ‘Only in Berlin, not in the rest of Germany’. Mandzukic seems to be out to change that – coat by coat.
