This year, Duchamp takes London and all its connotations as inspiration for their Autumn/Winter 2016 collection. Seeking to create a look that is fresh and contemporary, this city seems a relevant choice due to its youthful energy and diversity. The collection showcases a few key features; a focus on pattern and texture are integral. Modern, unique floral prints are visible under jackets, showing that it is possible to pull off floral in a subtle manner. The pocket squares and scarfs with interesting prints and patterns are artistically designed. Tonal layers are also used – by mixing similar tones one can create a three-dimensional effect. Textures enhance this effect: Geometric wool weave can give the impression of a garment being heavy when in actual fact it’s very light. This collection nods back to its original inspiration, French avant-garde artist Marcel Duchamp, with its forward-thinking direction.
