First thing we were being told upon entering the Modern Museum of Art during Stockholm Fashion Week was to not walk on the runway. There were pointed shoes neatly place down the runway. Already then we knew this show would be something special and it more than matched our expectations. Dancers from Stockholm 59° north entered the catwalk, stopped at a pair of shoes and started to tie them on to their feet. The music was rhythmical but harmonious and the dancers dressed in flowing oversized shirts started to dance. When the music got harder and more powerful with super loud drum beats the first ballerina model entered the catwalk. During the 15 minutes dance performance the audience was blown away – choreographer Alexander Ekman and the designer Diana Orving created something magical together.
It was a genius move of Orving to show her clothes as such, because her clothes move beautifully and we can assume Orving already had dances in mind when she chose fabrics and designs of this spring / summer 2017 collection.
