For his sixth season as creative director for the French label Y/Project, Glenn Martens presented a Spring/Summer 2017 collection filled with strong denim options and a romantic twist to his typically eclectic approach to design, all while drifting on a boat tethered near Port de Suffren on the River Seine in Paris. Martens (who was recently short-listed for the 2016 LVMH Prize) cited several inspirations for the collection (“Pirates, Island vibes, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Las Vegas Parano”). The true stars of the collection were in the washed denims (a bomb-sprayed pink denim ensemble was a highlight), oversized cable-knit sweaters and two biker jackets in calfskin leather.
