This season saw the combination of both sportswear luxe and feminine embellishment exhibited through an articulated ornamented wardrobe for Toga’s Autumn/Winter 2017 show. With tones of bubblegum pink, canary yellow, burnt umber, baby blue, navy and white, the collection experimented with the juxtaposition of both form and texture, with deliberately placed holes, slits and structural investigation, working between aspects of cut-out and tailored detailing. It was indeed a statement of excitement and functionality, demonstrating a well-selected woman’s wardrobe. With the use of fabrics such as wool, fur and silk, Toga’s collection still advocated femininity, which gave way to the commemoration of accessory and embellishment: Models were adorned in glistening jewels and embellishments, verifying the idea that detail lies in the representation of playfulness and that fashion does not necessarily need to be taken so seriously. Indeed, Toga gave a clear example of how choosing what to wear can be exciting, while working with elements of sportswear to truly mix up sophistication and take conserved classical style then give it an enriched lively edge.
