For the Autumn / Winter 2014 collection of 22/4_hommes_femmes, Stephanie Hahn sought inspiration in the work of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. The clean horizontal and vertical lines, the black and white as well as primary colours (well, two of them at least) were incorporated in the collection. But unlike Mondrian’s paintings, the clothes at 22/4 seemed anything but minimal.
Texture blocking was the name of the game, with 3D-fur covering the sleeves of a coat, the back of a vest and the right half of a beanie. This created unexpected volumes and interesting shapes. The colourful elastic bands that crept up on leather shoes, wool vests and blazers induced a delightful sense of the unknown.
