The Sankuanz Spring/Summer 2015 show was a breath of fresh air and a burst of fun. With this collection being his first to be shown outside of China, menswear designer Shagguan Zhe went big, presenting an eccentric collection of crazy juxtapositions. The first set of looks to walk down the runway were a lot more minimal and monochrome than expected – judging by the peculiar, colourful invitations. White garments with mischievous prints, inspired by Russian prison tattoos of the 1940s, eased the audience in slowly, all the while a lively circus-feel song played in the background.

Just as the audience were getting used to the playful yet subtly mocking spirit of the Sankuanz brand, an assortment of wild and unusual outfits burst onto the runway, taking the collection to another level. Giant hands and claws of all shapes and colours topped off the outfits, making the show unlike anything else shown at London Collections: Men. The often faceless models, some with giant exaggerated eye-makeup, were transformed into creatures from another planet, whilst their clothes reflected elements from both 18th Century tuxedos and modern sportswear. The eclectic collection was certainly not one to forget.
