Kingston University’s MA Fashion graduate Louise Aquilina reflected a band of renegade fashion fiends through her new urban-inspired unisex collection at her Alma Mater’s catwalk earlier this autumn. Her pieces merge the gender-blurring of hip hop culture with Cuban work wear and street clothing to highlight her belief that fashion is not just about garments. She uses pieces of second-hand denim throughout her eight looks and chunky and colourful knit jumpers, teamed with oversized scarfs. Instead of making fashion superficial or entirely based on aesthetics, Louise reckons that fashion can just as easily have a story to tell or a message to convey.
