Born in 1988 in Alkamar , Fien Ploeger is a graduate in Fashion Design from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Having interned for different renowned labels such as Karl Lagerfeld, Bas Kosters and Mada van Gaans, her ambitions have been growing steadily since she worked for Viktor & Rolf as a dresser. Fien’s graduate collection ‘FULL –BLOWN’ explores the concept of hyper-reality in relation to the body. She experiments with the ideal body expectations and creates exaggerated silhouettes altering beauty ideals. With her pieces Ploeger explores the theme of human tendencies to perfect themselves to extremes, similar to Jeff Koons’s balloon sculptures.
