Maria Piankov Autumn / Winter 2015

Maria Piankov Autumn / Winter 2015

From a black over-coat trimmed with edging of cobalt blue and sporting an exposed oversized white zipper, to the masculine cut and tailoring of the eye-poppingly bright blue trousers worn with an oversized elongated vest dress, Maria Piankov’s designs exude the most perfect modernistic and futuristic aesthetic. Maria showcased her latest collection at the London College of Fashion MA show during London Fashion Week 2015. Inspired by NASA and that lonely feeling one must get when looking down upon earth from the utter darkness of space, she incorporated boxy silhouettes with a fluidity – a task not many designers can undertake. Along with boxy shapes and sleek lines in the usual monochrome black and white, there were intense pops of colour that shocked and awed the audience. The Russian-born young designer graduated with a BA in Fashion Design from JAK Akademie in Germany before moving to London, where she enrolled in the MA Fashion Design course at London College of Fashion.
