Sandra Backlund can be called the Queen of Knits – the Swedish fashion designer specialises in sculptural knitwear, exaggerating the female form, using heavy wool, paper and hair. She graduated from Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm in 2004 and set up her eponymous label that same year. Backlund’s design aesthetic is sculptural, architectural and dynamic, transforming the very meaning of knitwear into a piece of moving art.
