Ground Zero Autumn / Winter 2013
The Korean brothers behind Ground Zero gifted us the avant garde side of prêt-a-porter this season, from the industrial space at Garage Turenne. Graphic prints in bold colours are always going to be a definitive feature of the house. They were presented across light, space-age fabrics and complemented by futuristic facemasks that were perhaps too literal an extension of the post-contemporary tone.
Where the designers really excelled was in delivering variety through their curatorial skills, interspersing surprise elements of silhouette and texture to go beyond the laurels of print. The peplum, textured knits and hyper-worked fabrics (especially leather) were features that formed the foundation for an evolving orange and blue colour story.
Flirty sheer fabrics, iridescent silks and pin tucking added lighter elements to a collection that maintained a great level of femininity and brought the first few bites of colour to our prospective winter wardrobes for 2014.
