Sport-luxe was a crucial component of Mother of Pearl’s Spring / Summer 2015 collection. As their first to be shown at London Fashion Week, the collection demonstrated Maia Norman’s affinity with sleek lines and sophisticated simplicity, whilst combining these elements with a sport-meets-sixties aesthetic. Oversized coats with contrasting checks and sporty silhouettes with intricate embellishments gave the collection an edge that was unexpected from the offset.

Held at the Ballroom at Claridges, the show was bound to be a sophisticated affair, with a lively jazz band playing throughout and an interior as exquisite as the dresses. Chunky flats in black and white kept the collection in the 21st century and made further references to the sporty street trend that was so cleverly integrated amongst classic retro. Shots of metallics and dashes of paint brightened up the muted, feminine colour palette, and made Mother of Pearl a definite one to watch.
