Icosphere‘s Autumn / Winter 2014 collection showed a high level of consistency, starting with the colour palette. Black, white and red were the only hues that appeared on the runway. Seeing as the looks were distinctly rooted in menswear history, it made sense to keep things simple in the chromatic department.A one-button suit jacket was cut away at the waist to reveal a pyramid-shaped opening, making it a distant cousin of the tailcoat. A dramatic billowing cape was held together with a sturdy gold chain. Military-inspired coats were aplenty and the idea extended to the gold rivets on an asymmetrical vest. Necks were usually covered, thanks to mandarin collars, turtlenecks and a single scarf.

One look perfectly encapsulated the whole collection. It was a seemingly classic black suit, worn with a stark white shirt and neckcloth. Upon closer inspection, however, it revealed contrasting strips of red fabric on the shoulders of the jacket and along the sides of the trousers. It was representative of what seems to be Icosphere’s motto: an unexpected take on tradition.
