For Kim Shui, the female form is less an inspiration for her designs but instead a framework on which she builds her statement sculptures. Through her most recent collection of geometric, case-like creations, the London-based designer attempts to decontextualise the female form, consequently liberating the wearer from a preconceived femininity and redefining the codes of female dressing. With an education spanning the globe, from Parsons – The New School for Design to Central Saint Martins, Kim Shui’s aesthetic is decidedly abstract with an appreciation for technique and craftsmanship.
