The softness of the materials was notable at Kolor Autumn / Winter 2014, a collection which revolved around velvet and brushed wool. The colours reinforced the comfy atmosphere with hushed tones of silvery grey, camel and midnight blue. The show even blurred the lines between the sexes; as part of a growing trend at menswear shows, a female model graced the runway. With the ‘borrowed-from-the-boys’ craze in full swing, it makes perfect sense, and it’s easy to see how the clothes shown at Kolor could be coveted by ladies.

Stand-out pieces were staples of men’s wardrobes revisited with just a hint of quirkiness. Classic wool suits were altered with patches of buttery beige leather stitched in unusual places (lapels, shoulders, button holes), thus revealing the structure of the garment – a surprising twist on the elbow-patched professor jacket. A tailored coat featured blue-on-blue super-sized stripes. A velvet blazer in rich burgundy was shown with golden pants and a knitted turtleneck. Providing an unexpected take on the sportswear trend, a brown bouclé anorak revealed green quilted lining. New but not over-the-top, Kolor’s Autumn / Winter 2014 collection is likely to find a broad audience.
