‘Tropical Dandies’ is the overriding theme of the Issey Miyake Men Spring / Summer 2015 collection. Inspired by exotic resorts, abaca, pineapple and kibira fibres are adopted and transformed into resort wear that combines sporty with formal. The collection goes on a journey from the jungle, to the beach, to the sea. Crafstmen in Kyoto have hand-made tropical fruit prints to adorn the urban silhouettes of the jungle, whilst different shades of blue and iridescent pieces transport the audience to the beach. A collaboration with BLOOM Association, dedicated to marine conservation, led to digitally reproducing unknown deep sea creatures through digital prints.
