Daks drew on that swinging ’60’s Mod vibe with a 70s twist for their Autumn / Winter 2015 collection showcased at London Fashion Week. The inspiration, ‘luxury in motion’ was all based on English motorcycling and its heritage. The use of bold colours, colour blocking and patchwork was reminiscent of the Mods riding their Vespas around Brighton. Biker gloves, boots and jackets brought on a more contemporary, edgy feel.

’60s shaped shift dresses in different hues walked down the runway. Colours such as bright red, biker black and prints of Prince of Wales check and tulips made the collection pop. Strong pieces like the double-breasted jacket with matching cropped trousers, contrasting the feminine tulip print, brought the collection into the 21st century, and gave us some relief from that biker toughness. The models’ deadly straight hair and patent leather boots harked back to the ’70s, while the cuts and little caps seemed straight from the ’60s. Motown soul then brought this blast-from-the-past collection well and truly alive.
