Helen Clinch and Myra Nigris’s message with Hemyca‘s Autumn / Winter 2015 collection was loud and clear: We live in a digital age. We are constantly overwhelmed by information from the Internet and so the title of their collection suitably is ‘Decrypt, Generation Overload’.

The showcase took place in the atrium of the ME Hotel, one of London’s finest modern five-star hotels. The clean triangular lines of the room were replicated by the clean shape, line and cut of the garments. Within the triangle room the models stood on pedestals in a triangle formation, while graphic images and words were projected around them. The collection was bold and daring with colours like red, black, purple and navy. Tartan with bits of fur, mid-length capes and knee-high leather boots all gave this collection a avant-garde feel, making it strangely alluring. Dresses, tailored trousers and asymmetrical hemmed skirts were all made in contrasting colours and textures. The patterns were geometrical with triangle grids, checks and diamond webbing. It was a beautiful mixture of humanity and the digital world.

The outerwear comprised of long sleeves, turtlenecks and floor-length fitted dresses all held a secrete meaning. The message was that these garments acted as a second skin, to protect us, allowing strength to grow from the inside.
