Waves and sea routes, polka dots and eyepatches. Asli Filinta got inspired by the Ottoman sailor and cartographer Piri Reis for her Spring / Summer 2014 collection.

After graduating from Parsons in New York, Asli founded her own label and since then has been designing fashion influenced by her Turkish heritage. She combines cultural tradition with an international fashion awareness. In her latest collection she displays a pattern mix of prints she created from drawings and paintings from a book about nautical science. Soft silk blouses, tight shirt dresses, short blazers and ankle-length trousers come in mostly black and white with colour accents. The collection’s ‘The New World’ speaks for itself – that’s where Asli Filinta is taking us to.
