Korean designer Juun.J gave Asian fusion new meaning with severe street looks in superhero proportions for his Autumn / Winter 2013 collection. Models prowled the runway in heavily layered outerwear piled on high for massive football player silhouettes. Premised on ‘contrasting beauty’, the collection remixed classic with street, retro with futurism, everything infused with an undeniable hip-hop vibe. Mammoth shoulders, oversized lapels and billowed sleeves gave looks a hyper-masculine top-heavy shape.

Metallic bomber jackets verging on varsity letterman were layered over long wool pea coats that appeared beneath like skirts. Slimmer jackets in blocks of wool, leather and nylon hinted at hanbok. The show closed with a line-up of graphic sweaters in Asian-influenced graffiti designs by LA artist Greg ‘Craola’ Simkins.
