London College of Fashion MA Fashion Artefact graduate Chiara Pavan is inspired by notions of self-deception, distortion of the senses, and mundane objects used in the medical field for healing. All of her pieces, from the glasses to the leather goods, are made entirely by hand. The element of wood, whether pear or ebony, is introduced as a decorative function. Rusty metal is used in an unrefined way to showcase the beauty of raw materials. Leather is used in her collection of bags with the technique of saddle stitching. It’s that mix of organic and industrial that makes Pavan’s work so edgy yet timeless.
