London-based textile designer and 2011 Central Saint Martins graduate Andreea Mandrescu has created a textile collection called ‘Inlaid Skin’. The collection consists of translucent, soft skin-coloured rubber (or in some cases, wood veneer) pieces, which, due to their flexibility, can be easily manipulated and attached or wrapped around the body. Her main idea was to create a three dimensional extension of the skin. The collection is edgy, beautiful and subversive. It is like lace for the 21st century.
