Tbilisi Fashion Week hosted local designer George Shaghashvili who featured his collection ‘Earth is a Polka Dot’.

Last year George travelled to Japan with his family, “I’ve always had a keen interest in Japanese culture. The trip did not disappoint. The mix of a strong cultural heritage with deep traditions and conservatism in many ways combined with hyper-modern technological urban culture creates a fascinating outlook” says George. Thus, in this Autumn / Winter 2016 collection made up of a monochromatic colour palette of black, white and grey using wool, cotton, silk and leather, the traditional Kimono, Obi, Hakama and Hauri are apparent with a unique and modern twist next to showpieces incorporating dotted patterns in both shoes and textiles.

George was previously a medical doctor and in 2008 was inspired to go after his dream of being a fashion designer. Today, he has a boutique and studio in Tbilisi and resides most of his time in Kenya, Africa.
