Stark black lines dissolve into blurry watercolour shapes in Isabella Hemmersbach‘s dreamy illustrations. This might or might not be a reflection of the high contrasts provided by Isabella’s art training: a rigid and conformist high school education in Germany followed by free experimentation with other artists and mentors, which allowed her to ‘embrace the unforeseen’. Now based in Copenhagen and working in the fashion industry, Isabella creates fashion illustrations rooted in personal and humorous anecdotes. In February 2013, she presented her first solo exhibition titled ‘Shadow Play’ at VESS gallery. She recently collaborated with Tomorrow’s Journal.
