British duo Gilbert and George were the heavy influence of Jeremy Scott’s collection this season. In keeping with Moschino’s humorous tone, the artists’ work as inspiration seems totally relevant, as colours were heavy and prints exploited. Gilbert and George’s distinctive art work was reconstructed over T-shirts, dresses and bombers. Bold slogans with the words ‘hope’, ‘fear’ and ‘power’ were all over sleeves and down the sides of trouser legs. Acidic yellows met heavy blacks, whilst spray paint met ‘pop-art’ squiggles, creating an almost 2D effect to some of the outfits. Moschino continues its legacy as the ‘tongue-in-cheek’ brand that promotes clever kitsch.
