Dutch illustrator Kate Van Harreveld studied fashion design at Artez Arnhem before changing career paths. “It was not long after graduation that I realised I’m much more interested in creating a dream-like world of my own with my drawings than in creating an actual garment,” she explains. “I like to invent a story with a heavy atmosphere. I could also do that with a fashion show or a photograph, but I chose drawing mainly because you can do it all on your own without the help of other people.” Since then, Kate has done commissioned work for a dozen magazines, including DASH, and her illustrations have been exhibited in Amsterdam, Antwerp and Berlin. She’s represented by Angelique Hoorn.
