One of the most prominent fabrics of the 21st century, denim is currently one of the most extensively worn fabrics in day-to-day life; whether casual or formal, denim and jeans make a bold style statement for a majority of the population who prefer to wear this comfortable fabric day in, day out.

In her book, Denim Dudes: Street Style, Vintage, Workwear Obsession, Amy Leverton examines different representations of masculinity through denims. Leverton discusses the transformation from it being a working men’s fabric to an appealing one. Reflecting on how various individuals style their denims – from founders of denim companies to CEOs and store-owners – the book takes a look at the sartorial aspect of the industry.

With a view on street style from various cities of Europe, Asia, the United States and Australia, 14 photographers capture the versatility and appeal of denim styled and presented differently by each individual throughout the book, in terms of cuts, shapes and styles. From ripped jeans to stone washed and acid washed denims, these extremely stylish and eccentric ‘dudes’ from around the world portrayed in the book have somehow presented every style and presented their masculinity on the basis of their fascination with this fabric.

‘Denim Dudes’ by Amy Leverton, published by Laurence King Publishing, is out now.
